Pinterest Inspiration: Blue Velvet Cupcakes
I absolutely LOVE Pinterest! I can sit there for hours just browsing and collecting different ideas. The board with the most pins is food (of course). I love baking, so when I came across
these, I had to try and recreate them with my own twist.
In order to make these, it's simple!
You'll Need:
- Box cake mix
- Oil (how much the box calls for)
- Eggs (how much the box calls for)
- Water (how much the box calls for)
- Wilton's Royal Blue icing color
- Can Frosting
- Sprinkles
Mix all of the ingredients on the cake box together. When it's well blended, add in the icing color. The icing color has a gel consistency and is more concentrated the water based food dyes you get at the grocery store. In order to achieve the color I wanted, I had to put in quite a lot of dye.
& here is ther color I wanted! Such a pretty blue! Put them in the oven & bake them according to the time on the box. The box said 15-20 minutes, so I put mine in for 15 minutes because I like super moist cake.
While the cupcakes were baking, I transferred the frosting to a small bowl and put a drop of icing color in to create a light blue icing.
They're done! Ahh, they looked perfect when they came out of the oven. When they cooled, I put the frosting on top &...
Here it is! Here's the top view.
Here is the inside view.
They were so good! I will most definitely be making these another time, maybe with a different color.
